Following the appointment of former skippers Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis as the head coach and bowling coach, fans are sitting with their eyes glued to the hiring of Pakistan’s batting coach. While few names popped out considering this subject, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to make anything official.
Pakistan’s former cricketer, Muhammad Yousuf
Recently, Pakistan’s former cricketer and one of the finest batters produced by the soil Mohammad Yousuf decided to share his two cents on the batting coach debate. The 45-year old, who holds the record of scoring most Test runs in a calendar year, named Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar and himself as the five elite batsmen of the country.
Yousuf said that the aforementioned players are the only batters from Pakistan who thrived in both red-ball and white-ball cricket. For this reason, the cricketer turned expert wants the governing body of Pakistan cricket to acquire the services of one of these players as Pakistan’s next batting coach. It remains to be seen how PCB responds to Yousuf’s suggestion.
