Charm of Sri Lanka’s forthcoming tour of Pakistan has been dampened to an extent as many experienced Islanders decided to opt out of the visit which comprises of three ODIs and as many T20Is.
In response, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Science and Technology blamed Indian authorities and blasted on them for pressurizing Sri Lankan players to refuse to tour Pakistan by bringing into equation Indian Premier League (IPL) contracts.
However, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Sports Harin Fernando has brushed aside all the allegations. The 40-year old added that there is no element of truth in reports which claimed Indian influence on Sri Lankan players who ruled themselves out of Pakistan tour. He further added that few players made this decision on the basis of painful 2009 incident when Sri Lanka team’s bus was attacked in Lahore.
In addition to this, the Wattala born revealed that they have decided to pick a strong unit which is good enough to beat Pakistan in Pakistan. Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan is set to commence from September 27 with an ODI game at the iconic National Stadium of Karachi.
