Cricket West Indies has recently made a surprising move as they installed all-rounder Kieron Pollard as the leader of both white-ball teams, removing Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite from ODIs and T20Is leadership framework respectively.
While few were against the move as Pollard didn’t even feature in ODI cricket since October 2016, legendary West Indian cricketer Clive Lloyd welcomed this decision. The 75-year old believes that the governing body of West Indies cricket has taken a sane route to hire Pollard’s services as the captain of the shorter formats. Clive Lloyd further added that it would allow Jason Holder to focus on his Test captaincy as well as his own performances.
“Appointing Pollard as West Indies captain was the best thing that Cricket West Indies could do. Pollard has tons of experience which he collected while playing all over the world and you can see in his leadership now in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL),” the Guyana born said as he backed the talismanic all-rounder to restore the pride of West Indies cricket.
