The West Indies cricket management surprised everyone when they announced Kieron Pollard, the Windies all-rounder, as the captain of their ODI and T20I side.
West Indies have sacked Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite as ODI and T20I captains respectively and have instead named Kieron Pollard in charge of the limited-overs side.
Dwayne Bravo, the Windies all-rounder, congratulated Pollard on his selection as the captain of the National side. Bravo wished him good luck and showed his desire to join the Windies team soon.
“Congratulations my friend Kieron Pollard on being selected as the captain. You deserved it and you will be a great leader. Hopefully, I can finally get back in the Windies colors again” Bravo said.
The 32-year old played his last ODI back in 2016 against Pakistan and since then he has not been selected in the 50-over format courtesy his turbulent relationship with the Windies Cricket Board. Pollard was part of the T20I series against India during the last month where his performance was quite commendable.
