The revival of International Cricket in Pakistan faces yet another impediment as 10 senior players of Sri Lankan cricket team refused to play in Pakistan courtesy security concerns. These 10 players include: Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Perera, Thisara Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Lasith Malinga, Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne, Akila Dananjaya, Angelo Mathews, and Suranga Lakmal.
Ramiz Raja, veteran Pakistani commentator and former player, is not happy with the decision of these players. He feels that this is a disappointing and an unexpected call from the Lankan players.
“Don’t know what to read into 10 Sri Lankan players pulling out of the Pakistan tour, and a couple of them then opting instead to play franchise cricket”, Ramiz startled.
Thisara Perera and Niroshan Dickwella are the ones who preferred to play franchise cricket over the series against Pakistan. However, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board have reportedly denied them NOC (No Objection Certificate) considering them going against the policy.
