Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) received a major setback as ten Sri Lankan players refused to tour Pakistan for an upcoming series citing security concerns. Following this news, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has made a shocking revelation on his Twitter account.
He claimed that India has threatened Sri Lanka players over the possibility of terminating their Indian Premier League (IPL) contracts if they travelled to Pakistan for the tour later this month. Chaudhry termed the alleged Indian act as a ‘cheap tactic’ and also condemned it.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said national players were briefed on security arrangements for the six-match limited-overs series, and were given the freedom to decide if they wanted to travel. Lasith Malinga, Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal and other players have decided to withdraw from the tour of Pakistan.
