Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said it would reassess the security situation in Pakistan after it received a warning over a possible terrorist threat from its Prime Minister's office. Hours after announcing its squads for the limited-overs fixtures in Pakistan, Sri Lanka’s tour now hinges upon the assessment of the security arrangements.
According to the press release from SLC, it had now sought the Sri Lankan government's assistance to conduct a reassessment of the security situation in Pakistan. “The decision was taken following a warning, the SLC received from the Prime Minister’s Office, sent via the Ministry of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports,” the statement read.
Ten top Sri Lankan cricketers had already withdrawn from the forthcoming tour and the latest development might serve as a hindrance to the remaining squad members willing to travel to Pakistan.
