Cricket South Africa recently acknowledged the contribution of Faf du Plessis both as a leader and a player to the country. However, the authorities are now looking to install wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock as the new captain of the team.
South Africa’s Interim Director Enoch Nkwe recently admired de Kock’s skills as he backed him to shine in their future assignments. With de Kock set to lead the T20I team against India, the authorities are also looking to inject fresh blood in the shortest format of the game. Moreover, the 36-year old hinted about the appointment of the aggressive batsman as the captain for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be played in Australia.
“We know where Faf stands as a captain and as a player. He has done great things for SA cricket. But we also need to look at what future looks like and we strongly believe in Quinton, who is going to be leading the team going forward,” Nkwe said while interacting with media before the commencement of South Africa’s tour to India.
