England cricket team did not have a good start to the ICC Test Championship after winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The World Cup champions failed to retake the Ashes title from Australia as the visitors took an inaccessible lead in the ongoing Ashes (2-1).
England captain, Joe Root, was fairly disappointed over his team’s performance in the Ashes but he is hopeful to comeback strongly the next time these two teams meet in Australia for the Ashes 2021-22.
"We have to use the next two-and-a-half years to focus on putting in a winning tour down under. That's a real incentive for everyone, to be part of something special there." Root said.
"I know the direction I want to take this team and it's about starting that now, not after this series. It's about trying to make sure we use this match as a stepping stone, win this game, have a really strong winter and move forward as a group." the 28-year old further added.
