The appointment of former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq as Pakistan’s head coach has attracted a lot of debate. While few are celebrating this move of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), others believe that the board has made an unwise decision which is going to damage the national team.
Recently, ex Pakistan cricketer and one of the finest batters of the country Mohammad Yousuf joined the debate. The 45-year old believes that the governing body of Pakistan cricket has failed to make decisions on merit as Misbah never deserved this post. In addition to that, Yousuf criticized Misbah’s tenure as a captain and called him an extremely defensive player who never led from the front.
“Merit is nowhere to be seen in Pakistan Cricket Board. Your coach who is a former captain was an extremely defensive cricketer. Kane Williamson of New Zealand plays a bit slow, but there is a method to his madness. Here Misbah always waited for wickets to fall rather than coming up the order and take the bulls by the horns,” Yousuf said while sharing his views on Misbah-ul-Haq.
