Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has made a remarkable return to the Test side after being included for the final Ashes Test at The Oval. The 27-year-old played a pivotal role in restricting the hosts to a total of 294 in the first innings.
Marsh took England by surprise as he ended up with figures of 5 for 46 with the ball, however, he was unable to create the same amount of impact with the bat as he only managed to score 17 runs on his return.
In his post-match interview, Marsh revealed that most of the people back home in Australia hate him as he has not been able to fulfill the expectations of the cricket loving nation which always wants to see the best from its players.
“Most of Australia hate me. Australians are passionate, they love their cricket, they want people to do well. There's no doubt that I've had a lot of opportunity at Test level and I haven't quite nailed it, but hopefully they can respect me for the fact I keep coming back,” he said.
