West Indies stalwart all-rounder, Andre Russell, was stretchered off during the Caribbean Premier League 2019 (CPL) after being hit by the ball on his helmet in the match between Jamaica Tallawahs and St Lucia Zouks. The incident happened in the 14th over of the Jamaica Tallawahs' inning when Russell, facing pacer Hardus Viljoen on zero, failed to connect with a pull and the ball struck his helmet near the right ear and ended up leaving the field on a stretcher in a neck brace.
However, following the incident, he was taken to the hospital for a CT scan. A medical update from the franchise confirmed that Russell was cleared of serious injury. The doctors advised him to have rest and thus he didn’t play a further part in the game.
