Pakistan’s middle-order batsman, Umar Akmal who has been in and out of the national team due to his inconsistency may find himself in the team again under the new management of Misbah-ul-Haq. According to the sources, Akmal recently underwent fitness tests alongside Ahmed Shehzad in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
Head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah wants to give Akmal another chance in international cricket and is likely to overlook his fitness issues.
Shehzad reportedly seemed fitter during the test but Akmal, as it always has been an issue with him, was found to be a bit lacking. The 29-year-old was last seen in action during the Pakistan Cup in April.
