Wicket-keeper batsman, Sarfaraz Ahmed has been retained as the ODI and Twenty20 captain by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) while prolific young batsman Babar Azam was named Sarfaraz’s deputy for the limited-overs home series against Sri Lanka.
The announcement was made during the joint press conference held by the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani alongside head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq. Misbah believes Sarfaraz deserves to be retained as Pakistan’s captain.
“I want to congratulate Sarfaraz on his confirmation as Pakistan captain and Babar on his appointment as vice-captain. Both are one of the most talented and exceptionally gifted Pakistan cricketers and thoroughly deserve these assignments,” Misbah said.
Misbah said he is in a better place to get the best out of Sarfaraz as he knows him better than most of the cricketers since they both played together in the national side for a lengthy period. Misbah further stated that he always been an admirer of his commitment and the energy Sarfaraz brings to the side.
