Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has been recently reaffirmed as the captain of the national side in limited overs cricket while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to announce the captain of Pakistan Test team. Young batting prodigy, Babar Azam has been appointed the vice-captain of the national side as he would assist Sarfraz in leadership duties from now on.
The skipper has appreciated the decision of the PCB as he feels that the appointment would help in grooming Babar for the future and his friendship with the batsman would help him in their new professional relationship.
“I have a good understanding with Babar Azam. He stands next to me in the slip cordon. It’s a good move to name him the vice-captain. He will be groomed for captaincy with time. In fact, I consult Babar and other players whenever I have to take a decision,” he added.
