Opening batsman Sami Aslam has started the domestic season 2019-20 in style by scoring an unbeaten double hundred against Central Punjab while representing Southern Punjab at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
The left-hander played some eye-catching drives through the on side while he dominated the spinners by using his feet every now and then. By finishing the innings with an unbeaten 243, Sami has become only the 12th batsman in the history of Pakistan first-class cricket to carry the bat.
The youngster seemed quite happy after his innings as he said that he has worked hard on his game and fitness which eventually translated into such a dominant performance in the first game of the season. He also said that he is hoping to regain his place in the Test side which he lost due to unforeseen circumstances.
The 23-year-old last played for Pakistan in 2017 and he has a brilliant opportunity to make a comeback to the national side as the Test team is still struggling with the openers who keep changing after every couple of games.
