This year’s edition of the distinguished Quaid-e-Azam Trophy kicked off with as many as 5 centuries scored across three matches of the opening day of the tournament. The game between Southern Punjab and Central Punjab witnessed two fantastic tons which allowed the former to end the day on a strong position.
Winning the toss, Southern Punjab batted first only to get reduced to 74-4. At lunch, Central Punjab found themselves in the driving seat. However, other sessions turned the equation as opening batsman Sami Aslam and wicket-keeper Adnan Akmal shared a scintillating 229-run stand to help Southern Punjab reach 467 runs.
Producing such a fantastic batting effort, the two cricketers even moved Azhar Ali to admire their batting outing. The veteran player of Central Punjab rued the chance to let Sami and Adnan swell their partnership, but admired them for showing great character against all the adversity to rescue their team. Moreover, the 34-year old is focused on doing well in the ongoing red-ball competition and help his team win the coveted title.
