The decision by ten Sri Lankan players to refuse travelling to Pakistan for three ODIs and as many T20Is has not been received kindly by legendary batsman Javed Miandad. The cricketing great has instead urged Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to take action against the concerned cricketers for prioritizing T20 leagues over international duty.
"International matches should be the top priority for the players and SLC should penalize the ones who have opted out of the Pakistan series," Miandad said. The ten players who decided against touring include Thisara Perera, Lasith Malinga, Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews among others.
Earlier, Niroshan Dickwella and Perera were not granted NOC by the Sri Lankan board to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), presumably owing to their refusal to visit Pakistan.
