Steve Smith has been in the midst of an unbelievable run-scoring spree in Test ever since the expiry of his 12-month ban due to ball-tampering. The former Australian skipper amassed an astronomically tally of 774 runs across seven innings in the Ashes series, oozing class with his delightful stroke play.
He recently displaced Indian captain Virat Kohli to grab the No. 1 ranking for Test batsmen. However, when asked to choose between Kohli and Smith, former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes had an interesting reply.
“I enjoy watching Virat Kohli. Steve Smith, with that action and technique, makes the ugliest hundreds I have ever seen but the man just keeps scoring runs,” Jonty claimed.
“Someone who likes to watch cricket would want to say ‘Wow! What an amazing shot’ as opposed to ‘Oh! How on earth can he hit that?’ So Virat Kohli right now,” he concluded.
