West Indian explosive batsman Chris Gayle has continued to swell his legacy in T20 cricket as the veteran cricketer recently reached 13000 runs in the shortest format of the game. The highly desired cricketer is the first one to achieve this feat with the only active cricketer being close to him is Kieron Pollard who is yet to surpass 10000 T20 runs.
The entertaining player did so in his side Jamaica Tallawahs’ contest against Barbados Tridents. While Gayle was able to muster only 22 runs, but this took his T20 run tally to 13013 runs which has been scored whilst maintaining a stunning average of 39.07. To iterate his authority in this form of the game, it is important to note that Gayle has 80 half-centuries and 22 tons to his name.
However, the 39-year old might not be sitting extremely happy with his landmark as Jamaica is struggling badly in the ongoing edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Playing 5 games of the tournament, they have been able to taste victory in only one of them, leaving the unit reeling at the bottom of the table. It remains to be seen how Jamaica fares in their forthcoming games.
