Asif Ali, the brutal middle-order batsman, scored a ton for team Northern in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Playing against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Asif scored an incredible 114 runs off just 133 balls including 18 boundaries and 3 sixes.
His knock helped Northern to draw the match after being bowled out for just 262 runs in the first innings. KPK, batting first, scored 526 runs courtesy centuries from Ashfaq Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan. In reply, Northern was left with a deficit of 264 runs. Under the enforcement of follow-on, Northern batted really well and drew the match.
Asif, generally known for his power-hitting ability, was struggling for form recently, but his performance in the First-Class match will give him a lot of confidence with the series against Sri Lanka just around the corner. Pakistan is yet to announce their squad against Sri Lanka and Asif Ali could be part of the final selected players with some runs under his belt.
