England had an incredible summer as they first secured a stunning victory in the World Cup 2019 tournament and then backed it up by drawing the five-game Ashes series. However, they failed to win back the urn as Australia ended an 18-year old drought of retaining the trophy in England.
During all this, English all-rounder Ben Stokes remained an instrumental figure in helping his country make history. Be it the World Cup final or the Headingley drama, the 28-year old stood firm against all the adversity. Reviewing his sensational performances of the summer, Stokes displayed pleasure. However, he is willing to trade the Headingley heroics with an overall Ashes win.
Sharing his views, the talismanic cricketer said, “There have been some incredible highs and some moments that I can hardly believe happened, but they did. I will always be able to remember what it was like being out there and win the World Cup or Headingley. But as good a day as that was, I’d still swap that drama at Headingley for an overall Ashes win, though.”
