National team probables start training

Training camp of the Pakistan cricket team for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka has started at the National Academy (NCA) in Lahore on 18th September. The 20 probables have joined the training camp under the supervision of the coaches. Misbah-ul-Haq oversaw the batting drills while the batsmen practiced on the slab.

Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and rookie fast-bowler Mohammad Hasnain were not part of the camp on the first day but are expected to join in the coming days. Due to the unavailability of the senior duo of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez, it is likely that Pakistan might have new names in the squad. The squad for the Sri Lanka series is expected to be announced on 21 September.

Addressing the opening issues, Ahmed Shehzad might replace struggling Fakhar Zaman in the team. Fakhar, who only recently recovered from knee injury, had a stinker of a World Cup campaign. Meanwhile, seasonal domestic performer Iftikhar Ahmed also has a strong case to be in the squad. The middle-order batsman has a healthy average of 51.65 in List A matches.
