Perpetual underperformers Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have consistently failed to win the trophy since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Current India skipper Virat Kohli has presided over the captaincy duties for RCB for the past 7 seasons but the popular franchise’s fortunes have stagnated.
Under the leadership of Kohli, RCB has finished last in the eight-team competition twice in three years but even then the 30-year-old has been retained as skipper for another season. The newly appointed RCB director Mike Hesson has ruled out any change at the helm and debunked the notion that Kohli is omnipotent in the dressing room.
“We don’t have that perception that Virat controls things. But maybe he has had his learnings from the past (mistakes) while moving forward. There has been no question mark over Virat’s captaincy during last couple of weeks (of discussions),” Hesson said.
