Questions continue to linger over the future of MS Dhoni in international cricket as he has not represented the national side since his appearance in the 2019 World Cup. His replacement Rishabh Pant meanwhile has had mixed success in the shorter forms of the game.
Taking note of the rising debate over whether Dhoni should get a chance in the Indian side, legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar claimed he should retire on his terms rather than being pushed out. Gavaskar felt Dhoni had lost his batting prowess and now needed to quit international cricket for good.
“Dhoni’s time is up. With due respect, the time has come. India should look beyond. With the greatest of respect to Dhoni, I think he should be going without being pushed out,” Gavaskar said.
