Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan had come under threat because of a possible terror attack on the Sri Lankan team. However, Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan de Silva said they have received the all-clear from the defense ministry to leave for Pakistan on Tuesday.
“We have the green light from the defence ministry. The tour is on as we planned. I myself and our office bearers will also be accompanying the team,” de Silva said.
The Government of Pakistan, in a letter sent to the SLC via the Ministry of Telecommunications, Foreign Employment and Sport of Sri Lanka has assured it will ensure the highest consideration of security to the visiting cricket team.
The six-match tour will start on September 27. The National Stadium in Karachi will host the ODIs, while the T20Is will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
