Pakistan former all-rounder, Shahid Afridi has advised Sarfaraz Ahmed to quit Test captaincy and said the wicketkeeper-batsman should focus on limited-overs cricket.
“It is a correct decision to appoint Sarfaraz as skipper in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Sarfaraz should have been removed as Test captain after the South Africa tour as it is a difficult challenge to lead the side in three formats,” said Afridi.
The flamboyant all-rounder revealed he advised Sarfaraz to leave the Test captaincy after the South Africa tour irrespective of the result, but Sarfaraz didn’t listen. However, he appreciated the effort put in by the Pakistan skipper on his fitness since the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup.
