Moeen Ali takes an indefinite break from Red ball

England’s all-rounder, Moeen Ali has surprisingly taken an indefinite break from the Test cricket. The 32-year old was recently dropped from the side courtesy his poor form during the Ashes series. Ali was having a bad outing with the ball and the bat as well.

Ali’s poor form, not just in the Test matches but also the ODIs, was becoming a concern for England cricket team. He only played the opening Ashes Test at Birmingham in which he scored 4 runs in two innings and only picked up 3 wickets.

The trend of these breaks has generally been increasing, Wahab Riaz is a recent example of this trend who took an indefinite break from the Test cricket. Before this, England’s opening batsman Alex Hales also announced that he was taking a break from the International cricket.

Moeen Ali has represented England in 60 Test matches so far in which he has scored 2782 runs and picked up 181 wickets. Now it is not sure, for how long he wants to stay away from the red-ball format, but his absence will affect England as he was the key spinner for them in the Test match arena.
