Pakistan’s legendary off-spinner, Saqlain Mushtaq was very much in contention to become the Pakistan U-19 head coach but Ijaz Ahmed was preferred over him for the role. Saqlain has served in many countries as a bowling consultant.
The ‘doosra’ inventor has advised young players to become match-winners like Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne. He said that the young players should be mentally ready to take up any opportunity and they shouldn’t be considered as players who are going through the learning phase when given a chance in the team.
“The under-19 and A teams must be given foreign tours to prepare the young players for the future. When youngsters get a chance in the national team they must come fully prepared and groomed,” Saqlain said.
