Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has once again failed to impress the critics with his performances during the recent T20I series against South Africa as he could not find his rhythm in both the games. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has come out in support of the youngster as he feels that people need to give him some time to develop into a match-winner since he has all the ingredients of a long-term cricketer for India.
“Just be patient with him. I see the country goes up and down every time he gets dismissed. Every time Pant hits a ball in the air, Twitter goes berserk. ‘When will he learn to build an innings’ and all that. But if you want to have a match-winner, you have to set him free,” said Ganguly.
Pant is said to be the successor of MS Dhoni in the Indian team but if he fails to cement a spot in the coming series, India might look towards players like Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and a couple of others who have done quite well for India A and domestic teams.
