The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) recently appointed young leg-spinner Rashid Khan as captain after the dismal performance of the team under the leadership of inexperienced Gulbadin Naib during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
The captain suffered from a nasty injury while fielding during the second innings of the recent tri-series fixture as he pulled his hamstring while chasing the ball. He was immediately taken off the field, but he later returned to bowl while he seemed to be in excruciating pain.
However, the best T20I bowler in the world is still under observation and is not confirmed for the final against Bangladesh as team manager Nazim Jar Abdur Rahim Zai has said that nothing could be said about Rashid’s place in the final right now.
"I cannot say that he will be available. He is doing well and let's see what's happening. We will have two or three days for recovery. I hope it's not that serious because he is our captain and main player and we will monitor him tomorrow and the day after,” he said.
