The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has considerably increased the match fee for Test matches in order to maintain the interest of cricketers in the longer format. According to the new central contracts, the match fee for Test matches will be more than double than that of a T20 International.
The PCB will award PKR 300,000 to the Player of the match in Tests and ODIs as opposed to PKR 150,000 in T20Is. On the other hand, Player of the series will get PKR 600,000 in Tests, PKR 500,000 in ODIs and PKR 250,000 in T20Is.
PCB has made this move to lure cricketers towards playing more Test cricket rather than playing shorter forms of the game. Recently, the fast-bowling duo of Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz decided to quit Test cricket to focus on white-ball cricket posing questions over the declining priorities of players to indulge in the conventional format.
