England is all set to tour New Zealand in November for 5 T20I matches and 2 Test matches, the National selector Ed Smith has announced England’s Test squad. Joe Root, the top-order batsman, will continue to lead England in the Test series. Root did not enjoy an outstanding season with the bat during the Ashes 2019. His performance in the Test matches has dropped significantly.
In order to deal with this dilemma, Ed Smith has announced that there might be a change of plans in the upcoming Test series. He said that we are planning to bring Root back to the number 4 position in the batting line-up.
Root was averaging 50+ in year 2017, which dropped to 41.21 in the following year and further slipped to 29.21 in 2019. He has not scored a single century in this year for England in the Test matches and only managed to score 3 half-centuries. His dismal performance has been a concern for England and they want to get the best out of him by maneuvering his position.
