Indian skipper Virat Kohli surprised everyone when he decided to bat first in the final T20I against South Africa since the blue shirts are at their best in run chases and the Chinnaswamy is historically said to be a chasing paradise.
India eventually lost the game by 9 wickets as Quinton de Kock led his side to a comfortable win to level the series. However, while talking to the media after the game, Kohli said that he wants to take toss out of the equation in order to make his team efficient in all circumstances.
“You have to take risks to win a game of cricket, nothing is a given before you start playing. If we're willing to get out of our comfort zone a lot more, then we'll be unfazed by what happens at the toss. Our basic idea is to try and take the toss out of equation, and hence we're trying to play the best combination we can, having people who can bat till No.9, so we're in a good position whether we bat or bowl,” said Kohli.
