Australian domestic side Tasmania suffered a mighty batting collapse that will rank in the cricketing annals as one of the most surprising sequence of wickets. Tasmania’s astonishingly lost five wickets for a mere three runs while on the brink of victory against Victoria in Perth in the Marsh Cup.
Tasmania were cruising to victory in pursuit of 186, and wanted just five runs for a comfortable win from 11 overs with still five wickets in the tank. But fate had other plans as pacers Chris Tremain and Jackson Coleman rattled the Tasmanian batting lineup and they eventually were defeated by one run.
The remarkable collapse was triggered by expansive strokes opted by the lower order Tasmanian batsmen probably in an attempt to reach the target quickly in order to secure a bonus point.
