England has named its Test squad for New Zealand’s tour which is scheduled in November 2019, a lot of new faces have been called into the side including Zak Crawley, Saqib Mahmood, Dominic Sibley, and Matt Parkinson. This relatively inexperienced England squad will head to New Zealand where they will play 2 Test matches.
Scrutinizing the English squad, Michael Vaughan raised a question over England’s wicket-keeping choice. He feels that although it is a good decision to drop Jonny Bairstow for now, England should have selected Ben Foakes in place of him. “Would have gone for Ben Foakes, like all the other selections. Right call at this stage to drop Jonny Bairstow but I have no doubt he will be back very soon as the top-class batsman, we know he is”, Vaughan said.
Foakes has played 2 Test matches for England so far in which he has scored 332 runs at an average of 41.50. The 26-year old made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Galle last year. Currently playing for Surrey, Foakes has a commendable record in the First-Class career as well.
