3rd March 2009 went down as the darkest day in the history of Pakistan when the tragic attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team shut down the doors of international cricket in Pakistan. The fans kept longing for the cricket to return in Pakistan until a ray of light shone on the country in 2015 when Zimbabwe team toured Pakistan. Since then little series' have been hosted by Pakistan, and now Sri Lanka is here in Pakistan once again for the longest bilateral series since 2009.
The excitement, not only on in fans but also in the players, is at its pinnacle. Every player is eager to do well in front of the home crowd. Imam-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s opening batsman is all set to continue his good record against Sri Lanka.
“Playing against Sri Lanka will always be something special for me. I want to celebrate that hundred again and this time in front of a packed house and my own people”, Imam said.
Imam made his debut in ODI against Sri Lanka and scored a hundred on his debut, therefore he wants to carry on his merry way against the Lankan lions. Pakistan will play its first ODI against Sri Lanka at the National Stadium Karachi on 27th September 2019.
