Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has been under the pump for his continued mediocre performances with the bat over a prolonged period of time. The 32-year-old’s string of low scores poses questions over his place in the team, which could be under threat with the inclusion of back-up wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan in the squad.
Rizwan conjured up two magnificent centuries in the ODI series against Australia ahead of the World Cup in England and Wales but eventually could not make it into the squad for the showpiece 50-over tournament.
Sarfaraz, meanwhile, could not make much of an impact with the bat although he led Pakistan to 5 wins towards the latter part of the competition.
However, Sarfaraz claimed he was not too affected by Rizwan’s presence on the sidelines or even in the playing XI. “We've got good white-ball bowlers but we need to find Test bowlers. Inclusion of Mohammad Rizwan has no impact on me,” he said.
