The repetitive failures of Lokesh Rahul have opened the door of Test cricket for the explosive batsman Rohit Sharma. While a bunch still remains unconvinced about installing Rohit in the red-ball cricket, others believe that the Maharashtra born has done enough to get another crack at Tests.
Recently, Rohit received the backing of Ajinkya Rahane who serves as the vice-captain of Test cricket for India. The red-ball specialist believes that it is hard to see a sensational batting talent like Rohit sitting out of the longest format of the game.
With India scheduled to battle against South Africa in a three-game Test series starting from October 2 in Visakhapatnam, Rahane wants Rohit to fire against the rainbow nation, if given the opportunity.
Sharing his views on Rohit, the 31-year old said, “It is hard to see a special talent like Rohit sitting out. If he gets an opportunity, I am sure he will do well. We all know the quality he has. Test cricket is definitely different from the white-ball cricket, but it is all about the mindset.”
