There is little reason to doubt the ability of Pakistan’s batting sensation Babar Azam. Time and again, the batting master produced magical displays to augment his ever increasing fame. While his Test cricket credentials need a lot of improvement, Babar sits as a batting giant of ODI cricket.
Having occupied the top positon of the batting rankings in T20I cricket, the 24-year old is now not far to end Virat Kohli’s supremacy in 50-over cricket. Currently, Babar is on 3rd position with 827 rating points only behind Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. To dethrone Indian skipper, he would need to get at least 280 runs in the next two ODI games against Sri Lanka.
If we review Babar’s batting numbers against Islanders and particularly at home, it doesn’t seem impossible to see the Lahore born grabbing the top position in ODI cricket. Moreover, National Stadium of Karachi is known to dish out batting friendly surfaces which augments the likelihood of the said phenomenon. The Lahore born, like always, is focused more on doing well for the team. However, it’d be hard to ignore the chance of defeating a batsman of Virat Kohli’s stature.
