Umar vows an improved show from Northern

Northern currently sit at the bottom of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy points table as they were defeated by a comprehensive margin of 100 runs and an innings in their second-round encounter against Central Punjab. Northern, deprived of the services of regular skipper Imad Wasim, are captained by Umar Amin.

In a video message released ahead of their third game of the season, Umar admitted Northern had a lot of shortcomings in both bowling and batting departments and stated they would be looking to not repeat the mistakes in the match against Sindh.

He said the team had discussed after their heavy defeat that batsmen needed to apply themselves for longer periods of time at the crease instead of decent starts. Upon being asked how his team would counter Sindh’s veteran player Fawad Alam, Umar said he had a long experience of playing with the middle-order batsman and knows what his strengths and weaknesses are.
