South Africa’s paceman Vernon Philander has expressed his excitement for the beginning of his country’s journey in the highly celebrated ICC World Test Championship. The forthcoming Test series which is set to commence from October 2 in Visakhapatnam will see the rainbow nation locking horns against the men in blue for a three-game series.
For this challenge, the 34-year old is gearing up as he wants to do well against a quality team like India. Even in the practice game, Vernon delivered a good all-round show by scoring 48 runs and claiming 2 important wickets.
The absence of stalwarts like Hashim Amla and Dale Steyn installs a huge responsibility on the shoulders of the other players, and therefore Philander urged the senior pros to step up in the Test series. Moreover, he was delighted to get some practice via a tour game. Philander has good memories of India as he picked 15 wickets at 15.86 in last Test series in India. It remains to be seen how Philander fares in the red-ball series.
