The dominant opening pair- Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, are known for their great coordination and success at the top-order for India courtesy their performance in the recent past. Rohit and Dhawan, many a times provided India with starts which helped the team win games time and again. This opening partnership has developed a strong bonding between the two aggressive-style Indian players.
It was evident during the ICC Cricket World Cup game between India and Australia, where Rohit motivated Dhawan to keep going despite his injury. He went on to score a century after Rohit departed with a score of 57 (opening partnership of 127 between the two). He admitted the fact that Rohit played a great role in his century in the crucial game against Australia.
Shikhar recently disclosed how Rohit prompted him to carry on during the match, he said, “When I was hurt during the World Cup, I told Rohit that I can't play the big shots. I said that we have provided the base for the side and suggested that I should go back and let the next guy come and play, but Rohit insisted on me to stay as the runs were coming, saying that our partnership is going well and it will help the team”.
