Pakistan’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has finally announced his arrival to form with a timely half-century against Sri Lanka. After a horrific outing in the World Cup 2019 event where he amassed only 186 runs at 23.25, things weren’t looking promising for him. In addition, his batting took a downward decline in the last 6 to 8 months.
However, Fakhar made good use of the home conditions to start the ODI series against Islanders on a positive note. While he looked cautious and lost at the start, soon Fakhar looked at ease by regularly punishing the bad balls to augment his scoring rate.
In a spicy knock, the 29-year old cricketer smashed 6 fours and a solitary six to register his 12th ODI fifty in his 45th innings. Fakhar produced meaningful partnerships with Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam to help Pakistan get a strong start.
This was later utilized by Babar Azam and Haris Sohail to propel the boys in green to 305. Bowlers also played their part well in helping Pakistan win a home ODI which was staged after 10 years.
