Northamptonshire has re-signed Faheem Ashraf for the opening half of the 2020 season. The Pakistan all-rounder had earlier played for Northants in this year’s Vitality T20 Blast, where he picked up 11 wickets in as many games but did not get the opportunity to bat for extended periods of time.
Faheem, who has played four Tests for Pakistan, will be available for selection in all formats of the game for Northamptonshire.
The experience of playing in England will assist him in acclimatizing to the conditions ahead of Pakistan’s tour of the country later in the summer.
Northamptonshire’s red-ball skipper Adam Rossington spoke on the importance of having Faheem in the side and believed the 25-year-old had the ability to perform in red-ball cricket as well.
"I think he's definitely a genuine all-rounder, he's a very good batsman and though we didn't get to see him bat too many times in the T20 we know he'll slot in well,” Rossington said.
