Babar Azam was at his supreme best as he struck a regal knock against Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Karachi’s National Stadium to lead his side to an emphatic 67-run win. The right-handed batsman launched an exuberant display of elegant drives that awed everyone.
Motoring along with Pakistan’s progress, Babar was at the helm of his side’s dominant show with the bat as he smashed eight boundaries and four maximums during his 103-ball 115.
In the process, Babar brought up 1,000 ODI runs this year becoming the fastest Pakistan batsman to do so in a calendar year, surpassing the legendary Javed Miandad.
Babar’s fantastic ton – his 11th in ODIs – also allowed him to overtake Virat Kohli to become the third-fastest to 11 centuries in the 50-over format. Babar’s glorious batting masterclass surely lit the occasion of Karachi hosting its first ODI in a decade.
