Azhar Ali has captained Central Punjab to their second consecutive win on the trot after his side defeated Balochistan by an innings and 12 runs in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy clash. Central Punjab was helped by a stunning double century from Salman Butt in the first innings after which spinners Zafar Gohar and Bilal Asif unleashed destruction with the ball.
The win allows Azhar’s team to bolster their dominant position on the points table at the conclusion of the competition’s third round. The victory also adorns the 34-year-old’s shining record as skipper in first-class cricket.
Azhar has performed the role of a captain in 13 first-class games out of which he has triumphed in six encounters while faced defeat in only two matches. This stat surely indicates a player of Azhar’s caliber also possesses the temperament to lead teams in the longest format.
