South African batting great AB de Villiers is all set to make his Big Bash League (BBL) debut with the Brisbane Heat in the upcoming season of Australia’s premier domestic T20 competition. The veteran Proteas cricketer, who announced his retirement from international cricket last year, has been signed by Chris Lynn-led Brisbane Heat.
De Villiers will be available for selection in the second half of the forthcoming BBL season and would play the finals if his team makes it to the knockout stages.
He represented South Africa in 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is and has a glorious career playing for various franchises around the globe.
Talking about the motivation for joining Brisbane Heat, de Villiers claimed: “They play the kind of brand that I want to be associated with. It’s quite aggressive, they go after the attack, and I’m looking forward to going to the Gabba.”
