Misbah likely to coach Islamabad United in PSL-5

Former Pakistan cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq is likely to return to Islamabad United in the forthcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The most successful Test captain will now operate as the head coach of the two-time winners of the highly celebrated 20-over competition.

As per the sources, the 45-year old inked a deal with Islamabad even before getting appointed as the coach of the national team. In addition to that, Misbah got permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take up a role in PSL. It is important to note that he has a superlative record as a skipper in Pakistan’s T20 frenzy evident from Islamabad’s two titles.

While he played for Peshawar Zalmi as a player in the last season of the tournament, it would be a homecoming for the Mianwali born. Moreover, Dean Jones who served as Islamabad’s head coach has been released and is currently in contact with two other franchises. It remains to be seen who hires the services of the former Australian batsman.
