Mohammad Amir once again showed why he is rated as Pakistan’s premier paceman when his brutal spell of bowling halted Sri Lanka’s charge towards the latter part of their innings. Having gotten themselves in a commanding position to set up an imposing first-innings total, Sri Lanka ran into a determined Amir, who consistently darted in speedy yorkers.
Bringing all his international cricket experience to the fore, Amir was instrumental in keeping things tight in the death overs. He eventually got the prized scalp of the centurion Danushka Gunathilaka with a dazzling fuller length delivery that nipped back.
Amir registered three wickets during his 10-over spell and also extracted a perfect run-out dismissal to get the better of Lakshan Sandakan. He has thus continued on his merry run from an impressive World Cup performance.
